Description
1877 Dime, Frosty MS66
Eye-Appealing Type Candidate
1877 10C MS66 PCGS. CAC. F-107. Cobalt-blue in the
peripheral areas blends with blushes of golden-orange patina
encircling largely brilliant centers. Glistening mint frost and
mostly strong detail on the devices make this Premium Gem all the
more desirable, as does the absence of any individually noteworthy
marks.Variety: Fortin-107. This Fortin variety has a high, level date with circular die cracks around the obverse (passing through the date) and the reverse.
Population Data (9/15): The number of Premium Gems at PCGS totals 12 pieces (one in MS66+) with three finer submissions. NGC reveals 24 in MS66 and eight finer. This is among seven in this grade with the CAC green approval.
Heritage Commentary: With a mintage exceeding 7.3 million coins, the 1877 is available even in this lofty grade. Collectors on the lookout for an original, eye-appealing Seated dime type coin would do well to consider this piece.
