Description

1878-CC Dime, MS65
Brilliant, Almost Fully Prooflike

1878-CC 10C MS65 ★ NGC. A beautiful example of this important Carson City issue. From a drastically reduced mintage of 200,000 pieces, this lovely Gem is fully untoned with clean surfaces illuminated by intense mint frost on both sides. A few faint, raised die lines and spindly die cracks are noted, but the singular post-strike disturbance is a minor abrasion in the upper right obverse field. The exceptional eye appeal of this example is acknowledged by NGC with their coveted Star designation. Census: 7 in 65 (2 in 65 ), 11 finer (1/14).(Registry values: N2998)

Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 23AR, PCGS# 4686, Greysheet# 4137)
