Description

1878-CC Dime, MS66
Only 200,000 Pieces Produced

1878-CC 10C MS66 PCGS Secure. CAC. Type One Reverse. The E in DIME is die doubled. While the previous three years had generous, multi-million piece mintages, the 1878-CC dime was reduced to only 200,000 pieces. Output of minor coinage was restricted because of the concentration on Congressionally mandated, large silver dollar production. Examples are scarce in circulated grades, and Uncirculated pieces, especially higher graded ones, are very rare. This is a wonderful, flashy example. The fields show a confirmed deep reflectivity and the devices are heavily frosted. The reverse fields were heavily striated, most likely to eliminate either die clash marks or slight die breaks. The surfaces are brilliant throughout and there are only the slightest marks. Population: 3 in 66, 1 finer (8/10).
