Description

1880 Dime, MS67
Attractive Prooflike Fields

1880 10C MS67 PCGS. Fortin-102a, R.4. Examples of this variety were coined with a retired proof die pair, and often exhibit moderately prooflike fields as a result, as is seen on this piece. A bold strike, complementing a blush of light golden color overall, further contributes to the eye appeal. As a date, the 1880 dime is fairly plentiful in Mint State, despite its low mintage of 36,000 pieces, but its availability drops off quickly at the Superb Gem grade level. Population: 13 in 67, 1 finer (6/14).
