Description

1880 Seated Dime, Fortin-102a, MS67
Fantastic, Impeccably Preserved Example

1880 10C MS67 PCGS Secure. CAC. Fortin-102a, R.4. The Fortin-102a variety shows a broken and recut second 8 in the date, and a rusted reverse die. This frosty silver-white Superb Gem displays incredible coruscating mint frost and exquisitely preserved, distraction-free surfaces. Pleasing ice-gray undertones in the fields produce a lovely, mild contrasting effect on each side. A faint planchet streak, as made, extends from just beneath T in UNITED to just below the second S in STATES, in the upper left obverse field. A boldly struck and impeccably preserved example of this scarce die variety. PCGS Population for all four varieties: 13 in 67, 1 finer (6/14).
