Description

1884 Dime, MS67
Beautiful Type Coin, Ex: Gardner

1884 10C F-102, R.2, MS67 NGC. CAC. Gene Gardner considered this Superb Gem to be one of the most attractive 1884 dimes surviving. The obverse is moderately toned greenish-gold and blue with considerable lilac and pearl elements, while the reverse shows lighter versions of the colors that are equally attractive. It is a well-defined coin, carefully preserved and a Superb Gem in full. One of the most available Seated dime issues, the 1884 rewards selectivity and patience in finding an attractive, high-quality example ... as well as decisive bidding when a coin like this becomes available. Housed in a prior-generation holder. Census: 30 in 67 (1 in 67 , 1 in 67+ ), 6 finer. CAC: 9 in 67, 1 finer (4/18).
Ex: Purchased from Kathleen Duncan at Pinnacle Rarities (8/2005); Eugene H. Gardner Collection, Part III (Heritage, 5/2015), lot 98255, which realized $2,585.
