1840-O No Drapery Dime, MS62
Ex: Simpson, Medium O Mintmark
1840-O 10C No Drapery, Medium O, F-106a, R.5, MS62 PCGS Secure.
CAC. Ex: Simpson. The Medium O variety is from the only reverse
die known with that mintmark size and used in 1840. The die crack
down through the E in STATES to the N in ONE is diagnostic. This
important piece has satiny luster with lovely peripheral
iridescence. Silvery, minimally marked surfaces are attractive for
the MS62 assessment. Population (for all 1840-O dimes of varying
mintmark sizes): 5 in 62, 6 finer. CAC: 5 in 62, 4 finer
(3/18).Ex: Bob Simpson Collection of Seated Dimes / Long Beach Signature (Heritage, 9/2010), lot 3621.
