Description

1843 Seated Dollar, Toned MS64
Ex: Sweet Collection

1843 $1 MS64 NGC. Ex: Sweet Collection. Vivid orange, rose, ice-blue, and olive colors bathe this scarce Seated dollar. Well struck, the eagle's claws, Liberty's hair, and the stars near the head all have strong definition, and detectable striking deficiency is limited to the top of the eagle's left (facing) wing. Study of the moderately prooflike surfaces reveals no obtrusive abrasions, though we mention short horizontal marks beneath the cap and near star 6 for pedigree purposes. Census: 8 in 64, 0 finer (11/17).
Ex: Rod Sweet Collection (Bowers and Merena, 7/2005), lot 1038; Dallas Signature (Heritage, 11/2005), lot 2209; West Palm Beach Signature (Heritage, 7/2009), lot 766.(Registry values: N4719)
