Description

1846 Silver Dollar, MS64
Sharp and Thoroughly Original

1846 $1 MS64 PCGS. CAC. Reflective surfaces are muted by the thick, medium-gray toning that glows with orange and blue highlights fueled by substantial mint luster. The strike is bold but not full, with slight blending of Liberty's hair strands, the eagle's leg feathers, and the talon details. No repunching is visible on the date, unlike many of the issue. An attractive near-Gem example, challenging in this Choice grade and rare thereafter. CAC endorsed, just two pieces are numerically finer at PCGS. Population: 25 in 64 (2 in 64+), 2 finer. CAC: 5 in 64, 3 finer (5/16).(Registry values: N4719)
