Description

1846 Seated Liberty Dollar, MS64
Conditionally Very Rare in Finer Grades

1846 $1 MS64 PCGS. The Philadelphia Mint produced a large mintage of 110,600 Seated Liberty dollars in 1846, but coin collecting was not yet a widespread hobby at the time and few high-quality examples were saved for future generations. The 1846 is reasonably available in circulated grades today, but examples in MS64 condition are rare and finer specimens are extremely rare. This impressive Choice example offers sharply detailed design elements throughout and the lightly marked surfaces display prooflike reflectivity in most areas. Population: 21 in 64 (2 in 64+), 2 finer (10/14).(Registry values: N4719)
