Elegant Choice 1847 Seated Dollar
1847 $1 MS64 NGC. With so many of the earlier Seated dollars meeting their end in the melting pot, the survival of examples in any grade is mostly a matter of chance. The existence of a Choice piece such as the present coin, however, is indicative of conscious and careful preservation. Though the obverse stars show a touch of softness, the central details are solidly impressed, and both sides show subtle, lovely luster beneath rich blue-green, violet, and gold shadings.
