    Description

1849 $1 MS63 PCGS. Most examples of this issue survive in XF to AU grades, so this bright, lustrous specimen with very faint light rose-gold color is clearly something very special. Some wispiness is noted, especially in the fields and a few stray contact marks are seen above the eagle and to Liberty's left. It is possessed of a nicely detailed strike with just a little weakness on the high points and in the eagle's tail feathers. This coin deserved a close look and a strong bid from the serious Seated Dollar specialist. Population: 17 in 63, 8 finer (12/04).
Ex: American Numismatic Rarities (1/04), lot 149.
