Description

1850-O Seated Liberty Dollar, MS61
Rare Branch Issue in Mint State

1850-O $1 MS61 PCGS. OC-1, R.2. Osburn-Cushing Die State b/c. From a mintage of just 40,000 pieces, the 1850-O Seated Liberty dollar is a rare issue in Mint State. Most of the mintage was released into circulation at the time of issue, as silver coins found use in the bustling trade in the Mississippi Valley region. Today the 1850-O is in great demand, but the typical example grades VF-XF, and even AU specimens are elusive. This attractive MS61 example offers sharply detailed design elements and the brilliant, coruscating surfaces show minimal minor contact marks for the grade. Population: 2 in 61, 10 finer (11/17).(Registry values: N4719)
