Description

Conditionally Rare MS62 1855 Seated Dollar

1855 $1 MS62 NGC. CAC. Blushes of apple-green and golden-russet embrace the peripheries of this gently shimmering better date No Motto Seated dollar. Only 26,000 pieces were struck, and unlike the 1859-O and 1860-O, no bags were set aside for later generations of numismatists to admire. For both NGC and PCGS, the single finest certified 1855 business strike grades MS64. The present example has a good strike, with minor blending on the top of the eagle's left (facing) wing and left ankle. As expected for the grade, a few unimportant marks are scattered, but the overall appearance is smooth. Census: 9 in 62, 3 finer (5/08).(Registry values: N4719)
