Very Rare MS62 1855 Seated Dollar

1855 $1 MS62 NGC. The 1855 is a very scarce Seated Dollar that is even more difficult than its mintage of 26,000 pieces would indicate. Many of the pieces struck were shipped out west and were heavily circulated there where small denomination U.S. coins were seldom seen. Proofs of this issue are actually easier to locate than true Uncirculated business strikes. We believe this to be the finest known example of this rare date. Only four pieces have been so graded by NGC with none finer (11/02). The striking details are a bit soft, as usually seen on this issue. The fields are semi-prooflike, a common trait on Seated Dollars from the 1840s and 1850s, and there is a light, even layer of golden toning over each side. Lightly abraded, there are no singularly distracting marks on either side of this important coin. (NGC ID# 24YU, PCGS# 6943)

If my clients were to auction something of significance, having Mike as the auctioneer would be a deal maker as far as I am concerned.
