Description

1859-O $1 AU53 ICG. This interesting issue is one that Dave Bowers believes (Silver Dollar Encyclopedia, 1993) saw some examples, possibly a bag or two, released for domestic circulation after the resumption of specie payments in 1875-76. Certainly most certified survivors saw some circulation, averaging Choice AU or so. This piece shows some luster remaining under a light patina of powder-gray.(Registry values: N991)
