Description
Scarce 1859-S Seated Dollar, MS61
1859-S $1 MS61 NGC. This issue had a low mintage of 20,000 coins, and is understandably scarce as a result. This was also the first year for the coinage of silver dollars at the San Francisco Mint, and the issue is undoubtedly under pressure from first-year type collectors. The current example is nicely struck, with light toning and no evidence of wear on either side. Numerous small abrasions limit the grade.
