Seldom Seen 1859-S Dollar, MS61
1859-S $1 MS61 NGC. The 1859-S had a low mintage of just 20,000 pieces and most were used for trade with China. Mint State examples are rare. Pleasing lilac, rose-gold, and medium-gray toning covers the surfaces of this well-struck piece. There are no marks of any consequence, and soft luster glistens in the fields. A lovely example of the first dollar struck at the San Francisco Mint.(Registry values: N4719)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 24YZ, PCGS# 6948, GSID# 7226)
