Description

1859-S Seated Liberty Dollar, MS61
Mintage Only 20,000 Pieces

1859-S $1 MS61 NGC. Only 20,000 Seated Liberty dollars were struck in 1859 at the San Francisco Mint, and most of these were used in foreign trade. Examples in all Mint State grades are definitely rare today. The present coin is sharply detailed, with semiprooflike fields, and subtle touches of golden toning. A scattering of minor, grade-consistent abrasions can be detected on both sides. Census: 6 in 61, 11 finer (7/10).(Registry values: N4719)
