1859-S Seated Dollar, AU50
Only S-Mint No Motto Issue
1859-S $1 OC-1, R.2, AU50 PCGS. A Top 30 Variety. The 1859-S
is the sole No Motto Seated dollar issue from the San Francisco
Mint. Osburn and Cushing estimate 800 survivors from the mintage of
20,000 pieces. OC-1 is the more available of the two die pairings,
and is identified by repunching on the base of the 18 in the date.
A lightly circulated example with pastel straw-gold and ice-blue
toning. One slender mark rests on the right obverse field.(Registry values: N2998)From The Bob Hastings Collection.
