1860-O $1 MS62 PCGS. OC-3, R.3....
Description
1860-O Silver Dollar, MS62
Popular Southern Mint Type Coin
1860-O $1 MS62 PCGS. OC-3, R.3. Ex: Dick Osburn Collection.
Osburn-Cushing Die State b/b. This is a late die state, with minor
repunching removed from the date. A curved die line on Liberty's
midsection about midway between the upper-left gown folds and the
left (facing) leg confirms the OC-3 variety -- one of 10 die pairs
that exist for this New Orleans issue. Multiple die rust lumps dot
the reverse, especially at TES of STATES. Frosty mint luster
illuminates the lightly abraded silver surfaces of this sharply
struck MS62 example, which serves as the OC-3 plate coin from the
Osburn-Cushing reference. Ice-blue and faint tan-gold toning
accents add to the pleasing, original eye appeal.(Registry values: N1793)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 24Z3, PCGS# 6950, Greysheet# 7227)
