Scarce OC-4 Variety

1861 $1 OC-4, Low R.4, XF40 PCGS. Struck during the first year of the Civil War, the 1861 is a scarcer issue with a commercial mintage of 77,500 pieces. Four business die marriages exist, and a majority of examples are OC-2. The present silver-gray representative retains pockets of luster within the plumage. It shows a small dig on the reverse rim near 12 o'clock and a smattering of small obverse marks.(Registry values: N1793)
