Description

1866 Motto Seated Liberty Dollar, MS64
CAC-Graded With Motto Coin

1866 $1 Motto MS64 CACG. OC-1, R.2. Osburn-Cushing Die State b/c. A Top 30 Variety. The 1 and the 8 in the date are repunched (more visibly on the 1, at the numeral's base and flag) and the motto is doubled within the banner, most noticeably at the top of WE. This near-Gem example displays iridescent colors beneath warm-gray toning on the sharply struck obverse. The reverse is equally bold. Both sides offer reflective fields surrounding lightly frosted central devices. Just under 49,000 circulation strikes were produced using the new With Motto dies, with the entire mintage struck from a single die pair. This coin represents the late die state, with faint die cracks connecting the date numerals at the base and bold die cracks surrounding most of the reverse legends. This sharp and lustrous coin is housed in a new CAC Grading holder and exhibits outstanding eye appeal.(Registry values: N4719)
