Not Sold Description
Rare 1868 Silver Dollar, MS63 Prooflike
1868 $1 MS63 Prooflike NGC. Many if not most 1868 dollars were exported, accounting for their relative rarity today (David Bowers, 1993). NGC and PCGS have certified slightly more than 40 Mint State specimens in all grades. To date, NGC has given a Prooflike designation to only two examples including the present Select piece (4/09). Untoned surfaces display nice field-motif contrast and just a few minuscule grade-defining marks. Well struck, save for softness in the right-border stars and the hair atop Liberty's head.(Registry values: N2998)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 24ZB, PCGS# 6961, GSID# 7217)
