Description

1870-CC Silver Dollar, Fine 15
OC-6, Close Mintmark

1870-CC $1 OC-6, High R.5, Fine 15 PCGS. The 1870-CC silver dollar was the first issue struck at Carson City. The mintage was a mere 12,462 pieces, but several hundred coins were apparently set aside by Nevadans as a symbol of local pride. Most are circulated, and survivors are distributed among nine die marriages, which range from very scarce to rare. This is a typical silver-gray specimen with the deepest toning at the peripheries. The eagle's shield displays moderate contact.(Registry values: N991)
