Description

1870-CC OC-8 Dollar, VF35
Carson City Type Coin

1870-CC $1 OC-8, High R.4, VF35 PCGS. The 1870-CC Seated dollar was the first issue struck at the Carson City Mint. A paltry production of 12,462 pieces ensures its scarcity. Nine die marriages exist, with four obverse and six reverse dies rotated in and out of the press. OC-8 is scarcer than OC-9 and OC-1, and is typically attributed by its mintmark location. This coin has russet-brown and navy-blue borders. The lower right obverse field displays a few slender marks.
