Lightly Toned Obverse, Brilliant Reverse

1871 $1 MS63 PCGS. OC-6, Low R.4. Osburn-Cushing Die State a/c. A diagnostic die line to the left of the shield's top center point helps identify the obverse, while other die lines in the scroll confirm the reverse die. More than 1 million pieces were struck requiring 15 die marriages. This is a Select Uncirculated example, with a brightly lustrous and brilliant reverse. The obverse is slightly subdued with hazy, light-gray patina that overlays a few light abrasions and scattered tiny marks.(Registry values: N2998)
