Description
Remarkable 1872-S Dollar, Choice AU
1872-S $1 AU55 PCGS. The 1872-S is effectively the only collectible With Motto Liberty Seated dollar from the San Francisco Mint, considering that the 1870-S is extremely rare and the '73-S is unknown in any collection. Only 9,000 examples were struck, and the number of survivors drops precipitously in high grades. Dusted hazel toning in the margins accents the pale gray patina that envelops both sides. The abrasions are entirely trivial, and there are no prominent areas of weakness. Plenty of luster in the fields adds to the appeal of this briefly circulated representative. Population: 10 in 55, 10 finer (8/08).(Registry values: N1793)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 24ZL, PCGS# 6970, Greysheet# 7232)
Weight: 26.73 grams
