1872-S Silver Dollar, AU53
Only Collectible S-Mint Motto Issue
1872-S $1 OC-1, Low R.3, AU53 NGC. As the sole collectible
San Francisco Motto Seated dollar issue, the 1872-S is an essential
purchase for the S-mint type collector. A mere 9,000 pieces were
struck, and briefly circulated examples are desirable. This partly
lustrous coin displays dappled autumn-brown toning near the rims,
but the remainder of the coin is brilliant. One narrow mark noted
on the lower right obverse field. NGC Census: 10 in 53, 41 finer
