Description
Elusive 1872-S Seated Dollar, XF45
1872-S $1 XF45 NGC. Attractive and natural light gray surfaces show faint traces of iridescent highlights on each side. The surfaces have the usual trivial handling marks that are consistent with the grade. Although the Carson City Seated dollars are more famous, the 1872-S dollar is a true rarity from a mintage of only 9,000 coins. At the modest grade level of the present piece, the current population remains small. Census: 21 in 45, 43 finer (9/09).(Registry values: N1793)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 24ZL, PCGS# 6970, GSID# 7232)
