Description

Silver-White 1873 Seated Dollar, MS64

1873 $1 MS64 NGC. The year 1873 marked the end of the Seated Liberty dollar and the beginning of the Trade dollar, by way of the "Crime of '73," and accordingly the year has a peculiar appeal to numismatists, most notably "Mr. 1873," Harry X Boosel. The Seated dollars of 1873 were all of the Closed 3 date variety. The issue is scarce in Mint State, as large numbers of circulation strikes and proofs were melted. This is a splendid silver-white piece with much flowing luster and excellent eye appeal. The few scattered marks account for the grade but do not diminish the viewer's enthusiasm.(Registry values: N4719)
