Description

NGC 1840 MS 61. Unlike other first year issues, the 1840 is particularly unusual since a regular issue silver dollar had not been struck since 1803, yet, it was not saved in any significant quantities upon resumption of the denomination. In fact, mint state survivors are quite rare. This is a fully struck example that is accented with multicolored rainbow colors, speckled across each side with bright, satiny luster beneath. Population: 2 in 61, only 8 finer (1/95).

Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 24YA, PCGS# 6926, Greysheet# 7190)

Weight: 26.73 grams

Metal: 90% Silver, 10% Copper
