PCGS 1870 PR 63. With a mintage of 1,000 proofs the 1870 is one of the more available dates in the With Motto series. Among the 28 coins certified as PR 63 by PCGS (1/93), this certainly must be one of the finest looking examples around. While there are a few obvious hairlines, they are minimal and the fields still retain most of their original, dazzling proof flash. Both sides are handsomely toned with lighter centers that shade to a deeper blue toward the rims. Very sharply defined (not all proofs from this era are) in almost all areas with the only area of softness being on the eagle's neck.
