Description

1839-O No Drapery Half Dime, MS64
Scarce Early O-Mint Issue

1839-O H10C No Drapery MS64 PCGS. CAC. V-2B. Small O. Repunching is seen on the lower edges of the 1 and 9 in the date, a diagnostic of this variety. As a date, the 1839-O half dime is scarce in Mint State, and rarely seen certified at the Choice or Gem grade levels. This near-Gem is boldly struck in most regions, with the only notable weakness seen on the central reverse, though the wreath is sharp and the lettering is still clear. Splashes of deep teal, amber, and green-gold accent each side, giving this piece an outstanding old-time patina. Clash marks and a couple long, thin die cracks on the reverse identify a late die state. Population: 6 in 64, 2 finer (4/14).(Registry values: N2998)
