Superb Gem 1841 Half Dime
Tied for Finest Certified
1841 H10C MS67 PCGS. Rich peripheral golden-brown, mauve,
and cobalt-blue colors cede to lightly toned centers. A lustrous
and nicely preserved Superb Gem that possesses an exemplary strike.
Struck from moderately clashed dies. The second year of the Drapery
subtype is more available than its introductory 1840 counterpart,
but relatively few pieces have been certified by PCGS in Mint State
grades. Population: 4 in 67, none finer (5/11).Ex: Pittsburgh Signature (Heritage, 8/2004), lot 5627, which realized $7,475.(Registry values: N2998)
