    Description

1842 Half Dime, Boldly Struck MS66
    None Numerically Finer at PCGS

1842 H10C MS66 PCGS. CAC. Boldly struck surfaces show pearl-gray predominating against accents of pale blue and amber-gold in the fields, ceding to brownish-gold at the extreme rims. Excellent preservation and strong eye appeal. A full head on Liberty and full star radials along with the beautiful toning make this a standout coin.

Population Data (3/15): This piece is one of two MS66 at PCGS, which also shows three MS66+ coins. NGC shows seven MS66 and one MS67.

Heritage Commentary: The differences Daniel W. Valentine outlines among the four varieties he identifies for the year are slight and mostly involve progressive die cracks and/or the tiny "defects" seen on many dates in this series (particularly the earlier ones) around the stars on the obverse.

    Provenance: Purchased from Pinnacle Rarities (3/2010).(Registry values: N2998) (NGC ID# 2332, PCGS# 4330)

    Weight: 1.34 grams

    Metal: 90% Silver, 10% Copper
