Scarce Normal Date 1844 Half Dime

1844 H10C MS67 NGC. Normal Date. The 1844 half dime is scarce in all grades and rare in the lofty grade of MS67, where less than 10 examples have been certified by NGC and PCGS. Pastel cobalt-blue, lilac, and yellow-gold patination resides on lustrous surfaces, with slightly deeper hues on the reverse. Sharply struck, as typically seen, and devoid of mentionable marks.
The Normal Date variety is much scarcer than the Repunched Date, as discussed in Al Blythe, 1992, and in John McCloskey, The Gobrecht Journal, Issue #60, July 1994.(Registry values: N2998)
