Description

1849-O Half Dime, MS62
Very Scarce in Mint State

1849-O H10C MS62 PCGS. The 1849-O is a scarce and overlooked issue in the Seated half dime series, especially in any Mint State. The mintage of 140,000 pieces was moderate and numismatically unpreserved. This example is mostly brilliant with a few dark speckles on both sides. Struck from heavily clashed dies, a small scrape is noted beneath star 7 above Liberty's shoulder. Mint luster at the margins adds to the appeal of this conditionally rare, key New Orleans issue. Population: 1 in 62, 11 finer (6/16).(Registry values: N2998)

Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 233E, PCGS# 4344, Greysheet# 3812)
