    Description

    1851 Half Dime, MS68
    Finest Certified
    The First Time Offered

1851 H10C MS68 NGC. This Superb Gem is the only certified MS68 example of the 1851 half dime (3/13), submitted to NGC and graded in January 2009. However, over the last four years it has never appeared at auction, with the present sale representing the first opportunity ever for specialists in the Seated half dime series.

Sharply struck and fully brilliant, this example has prooflike fields around frosty devices. The obverse die is crisp with no evidence of die cracks or other imperfections, showing diagonal striations from die preparation. The reverse shows myriad peripheral die file lines between the letters and border. Here is a virtually perfect Stars obverse Seated Liberty half dime for a type set or specialized collection.
