Description

Toned MS66 1855 Arrows Half Dime

1855 H10C Arrows MS66 NGC. V-1. This is a last-year issue of the Arrows at Date subtype. The arrows signified a reduced silver content, caused by the rising silver prices in terms of gold, due to the glut of Western gold coming onto the world markets. This variety shows the arrow barbs overlapping the rock base. The shield point is over the left side of the 1, and the pendant is centered over the first 5. The bold date has the first 5 open, the second 5 closed. The dentilation is weak on both sides, as made, from about 1 to 5 o'clock on each side. This lovely Premium Gem offers iridescent blue patina with amber and gold scattered about. A prize for Seated Liberty specialists. Census: 4 in 66, 5 finer (8/07).
