Richly Toned Obverse, Near-Brilliant Reverse

1857-O H10C MS66 NGC. The 1857-O half dime had a mintage of 1.38 million pieces, making it one of the more available mintmarked With Stars issues. This sharply defined example has perceptible field reflectivity. The obverse displays teal-colored centers with a thin rim of gold at the margin. The reverse is near-brilliant with a tinge of gold, displaying shining reflectivity in the fields. The top reverse exhibits the heaviest die clashing, where parts of the date appear. Census: 27 in 66, 4 finer (2/11).(Registry values: N2998)
