1857-O Half Dime, Well-Struck MS67
1857-O H10C MS67 PCGS. CAC. V-3. The silver-gray lustrous surfaces of this Superb Gem display hints of reddish-gold and lavender on the obverse, ceding to deeper hues of this color palette on the reverse. The design elements are well-struck except for softness on the bowknot. This piece has been well cared for.Variety: V-3. The shield points to the flag of the 1 in the date, the pendant is right of center of the 5, the 1 is centered between dentils, and the 7 is centered over a dentil. The large O mintmark is directly above the bowknot and below the left stand of M in DIME.
Population (3/15:): PCGS reports four MS67 and one MS68 finer. The finest at NGC are five MS67. CAC has stickered only three MS67 including this piece.
Heritage Commentary: The 1857-O half dime is common in circulated grades. Mint State pieces can be located with patient searching through MS65, after which the issue is rare.
