Description

1858 Seated Half Dime, MS67
Seldom Seen Finer

1858 H10C MS67 PCGS. These small coins were prone to die clashing, and evidence of clashed dies shows on both sides of this otherwise unmarked coin. The Guide Book lists three date varieties for the 1858 half dime -- a scarce Repunched High Date and an equally scarce Inverted Overdate, as well as a Normal Date. This is the Normal Date variety. The frosted surfaces of the coin are lustrous and lightly toned on both sides, where orange-gold toning mingles with lilac accents and bold mint luster. Only a single coin is numerically finer than this sharply struck and attractive Superb Gem at PCGS. Population: 15 in 67 (1 in 67+), 1 finer (4/15).(Registry values: N2998)
