Description

Splendid MS66 1859 Half Dime

1859 H10C MS66 PCGS. CAC. Anthony C. Paquet is credited as the engraver of this briefly produced subtype, noted for its hollow stars and slightly different rendition of Liberty. It was replaced in 1860 by a legend obverse design. Paquet had little luck with coinage designs; his 1861 double eagle was also quickly abandoned. This lustrous Premium Gem displays blushes of tan-gold and blue-green toning. Well struck save for the right-side stars. Population: 10 in 66, 10 finer (11/07).
