Description

1860 Transitional Half Dime, Multicolor MS66
Well-Preserved Judd-267 Example

1860 H10C Transitional MS66 PCGS. CAC. Judd-267, Pollock-315, R.4. This transitional issue could be described as "Stars Obverse, Legend Omitted Reverse," as the back side only displays the HALF DIME denomination within a wreath. These coins were struck during the transition of moving the legend UNITED STATES OF AMERICA to the obverse. This lovely Premium Gem shows multicolor patina on each side, with good preservation and a bold strike, save for weakness on the lower reverse which seems to be common on this very scarce issue. Population: 8 in 66 (1 in 66+), 9 finer (10/15).
