Description

1865 Half Dime, MS66
Rarest Civil War Date

1865 H10C MS66 PCGS. Brilliant and thickly frosted motifs are boldly struck, with large areas of immaculate prooflike flash across the fields. Luster swirls over the coin, revealing faint golden-gray accents that confirm its unquestioned originality and careful preservation. The 1865 is one of several low-mintage mid-1860s Philadelphia issues as well as the rarest Civil War date, with just 13,000 business strikes produced. The base of the 1 is obviously recut at the lower right serif. Population: 9 in 66 (2 in 66+), 4 finer (12/25).
