    Description

Low Mintage 1867 Seated Half Dime, Important Business Strike Format

1867 H10C MS66 NGC. This coin is the business strike counterpart to the proof 1867 Half Dime from the Kaufman Collection that we are also offering in this sale. A simply gorgeous Gem, the obverse is noticeably prooflike beneath dappled olive-gold toning that is framed by intense lavender-pink peripheral shadings. There are numerous clashmarks (as struck) in the field on that side, and a die crack (also as produced) bisects the final S in STATES. The reverse is equally as well struck in most areas, but the appearance is more uniform with charcoal-gray toning. Some localized striking incompleteness is noticed over the AL in HALF, the D in DIME, and the largest leaf along the inner left side of the wreath. An unquestionably original representative that is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful business strike 1867 Half Dimes extant. (NGC ID# 234L, PCGS# 4390)
