Description

1871-S Half Dime, MS66
Tied Finest at NGC

1871-S H10C MS66 NGC. Silver surfaces are accented with hints of russet-brown and electric-blue. Strike is strong and luster is plentiful, especially on the reverse. Bowers posits that most of the mintage of 161,000 coins was sent to China and melted, making for a scarce issue today. This is compounded at the Premium Gem level, with the present offering unimprovable at either service. Census: 5 in 66, 0 finer (12/25).(Registry values: N2998)
