Description
1839 50C No Drapery AU55 PCGS. An essential one-year type, this is an especially attractive No Drapery Half that also represents excellent value for the type or date collector. The surfaces show almost complete mint luster, and while they are not exactly brilliant, they have a lovely silvery-gray patina with darker russet accents over the highpoints of the design. Well struck. To put a finer point on the value issue: a bagmarked MS60 will cost twice as much as this pleasing, problem-free AU55.
From the Collection of Dr. Joseph M. Seventko.
