Description

1840 Half With Recut 40 in the Date, MS63

1840 50C Reverse of 1839 MS63 ICG. Small Letters. WB-102. Characterized by pronounced doubling on the lower portions of the 40 in the date, this is a high R.6 variety and this piece is a later die state with extensive die cracking on the reverse. Sharply struck throughout, the coin is bright and shows good mint luster with just a trace of color present over the otherwise brilliant surfaces.
